The two story portion of the building was the residence of the Dyer and Snyder families among others in the early part of the 20th century. The commercial portion in front the housed Evans Bridal Shoppe in 1962 and DeLaraine Jewelers in 1977.
Broad Street Park is one of the oldest sections of the Township of Hamilton, Mercer County, New Jersey. It is an area consisting of the environs of South Broad Street to the bluffs overlooking Spring Lake and the marshes of John A. Roebling Park. It is a primarily residential neighborhood. The Township's first fire company was organized there and the Township's original police station was located there for many years. Postings from Deutzville and Fairview Park are included.

Hi Jim.
ReplyDeleteI do remember a bridal shop on the way to the independence mall. For a minute I got it confused with the beauty supplies place, the long red building on a corner out there.
2135 South Broad was also owned by "Gibbs Cab
Service" Owner Howard Gibbs in 1957.
Howard Gibbs was my grandfather. He and my grandmother lived at 2135 S. Broad from the late 40's to the late 50's. The house is in between Buklad's Funeral Home and what used to be Willey Lumber Yard.
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous, thank you for providing additional information on 2135 S. Broad. I am very interested in the Gibbs surname. Are you related to Coleman A. Gibbs - the first chief of Rusling Hose Company?
ReplyDeleteNo sir.
