Broad Street Park Yesteryears

Broad Street Park is one of the oldest sections of the Township of Hamilton, Mercer County, New Jersey. It is an area consisting of the environs of South Broad Street to the bluffs overlooking Spring Lake and the marshes of John A. Roebling Park. It is a primarily residential neighborhood. The Township's first fire company was organized there and the Township's original police station was located there for many years. Postings from Deutzville and Fairview Park are included.

This article brings back memories. I was a member of Troop 67 and Flaming Arrow was my patrol. Troop meetings were held in a one-room building at the end of New Cedar Lane owned by the parish. "Steal the Bacon" was still being played in the late 1950s!

The sponsorship of the boy scout troop continued for a number of decades after the troop pictured above was organized. Yours truly was a member of the troop when it met in a one-room building at the end of New Cedar Lane in the late 1950s.
