is this house still standing?
ReplyDeleteYes, the home still stands, though would be hard to recognize from these pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks again Jim for honoring the family with the pictures. I wish the home still stood as it was. I would love to go through it!
Pam
If I am not mistaken this is the large yellow home between Park and Lake on Lafayette Street?
ReplyDeleteLou-
ReplyDeleteThat's the one! Apartments now, I believe.
Pam
I still say that this is the yellow house on Park Ave at Schiller Ave.
ReplyDeleteI think this house in on the corner of Park Ave and Schiller, it's yellow as well. Still looks the same somewhat.
ReplyDeleteSo, the current front of this house use to be the back?
ReplyDeleteIf you go on Google Maps you can see from the aerial view that the house that is just about in the middle of Lafayette Avenue is what used to be the back of the old Willey Mansion. It is divided up into at least 2 apartments from what is now the 2 "front" entrances on the building. The aerial view shows the different peaks of the roof top. Since my kids & I love history, we were actually looking for this house just about a week ago & the updated picture on your site confirmed that we had located the correct house! Love your site Jim!
