This is a strange bit of information. Could the sign have been posted by a member or members of the organization that called itself the Broad Street Park Fire Company who were jealous that Rusling Hose Company had a new firehouse completed in 1920 and they were operating out of a storefront a block away? Nonsensical is the statement that "some folks" suggested that Rusling Hose Company change its name to that of its rival. I wish the reporter had been more explicit on the matter. As we know, this was ignored and Rusling Hose Company will celebrate its 115th anniversary in 2011.
