1941: Skating on Spring Lake

Hamilton Township Public Library Local History Collection

A completely frozen Spring Lake has always been a popular site for wintertime fun.  The cold was exhilarating, the bonfire provided warmth and Rusling Hose Company's light truck provided light at night.  It takes a long cold spell to make the ice safe which recent winters have not provided.  Keep your skates handy.  This may be the winter to do it again.

  1. I haven't skated here since middle school in the late 80's, still live in the area, it never freezes anymore.
