1908: Fellowcraft Club at White City

Trenton Evening Times, June 17, 1908

The White City Mansion, known as  the Casino during the amusement park days, was utilized by various organizations for dinner meetings.  Obviously you had to live in the period to exprience the famous chicken waffles.  Restaurant advertisements of the time described them as chicken done to a turn served with crisp, brown waffles and maple syrup.  Never heard of this dish.  Have you?  Fluffy ruffles refers to dresses and hats with ruffles.  Anonymous judges would walk the park and select the most attractive attire for cash prizes.

  1. I'm not so sorry to have missed the chicken waffles. But it sounds like something my younger children might like.
